Those golden walls
oh yes I still remember
when I got off that crowded noisy bus
and Uncle Wei in the doorway writing verses
he never was in a hurry much
His bicycle parked
so carefully
under the old persimmon tree
and Auntie Min cooking up her lo Mein
Oh I hunger for the smells of that old place
This university life in the big city
provides for me my every need
I have friends and food and lots of entertainment
and I contribute the things I know
to the common good
But there's an itch they cannot scratch
here in my bones
Something alive down in my very soul
and that's the air of loveliness I remember
going back to my olden golden home.
